Tim’s Story
Tim grew up as the son of a preacher man. Singing gospel songs and hymns around the piano with his mom and dad and two older brothers was always a part of his life. The harmony of family was instilled at a very early age.
Tim picked up the guitar when he was in the 8th grade and was hooked. Almost certainly driving his parents crazy, he spent countless hours practicing and honing his craft.
Giving his life to Christ, he and his brothers formed a band and played cover songs ranging from Christian metal group Stryper to contemporary artist Dallas Holmes.
From there, he pursued a career in music as a performer with secular bands as a guitarist and harmony singer. Unfortunately, that life offered various temptations. Succumbing to alcohol and the “sex ,drugs, and rock n roll” lifestyle, Tim followed the wrong path for a time. While he is not proud of his mistakes, God has used that period in his life to speak to people who are currently caught up in that lifestyle. Tim can relate to those struggling with sin and addiction because he has been there.
Fast forward to 2013, Tim was under so much conviction from the Holy Spirit. He knew he wasn’t living right, or following the path God had for him. He Turned his life over to God completely!
He quit playing music in the bands that led him down his dark path and said to God, “I don’t know what you want me to do, but whatever it is I’m in. Whether it’s playing music or driving nails, I’m going to do it for your glory!”
He ended up at Hustonville Baptist Church. Where God, in his mysterious ways, opened the door for him to be a music leader. After much prayerful consideration, Tim responded to the opportunity God presented him with. He now leads the praise and worship music at HBC.
Still, Tim is a songwriter and he also felt the call to write down the songs God was giving him. He also knew God was leading him to a ministry of music as a recording and touring artist. This culminated with the release of his first album of positive and encouraging music meant to sum up his testimony.
Tim prays that anyone who is hurting from addiction, divorce, or sin would take a moment to first seek God with all their heart, and then seek help and encouragement from trusted friends, mentors, pastors, or Christian counsellors. Also, take the time to listen to “I’ll Be”. The music comes from a person just like them, a sinner, who has suffered from bad decisions and circumstances, but also one who has been delivered by the saving grace of God through Jesus!
“God, I don’t know what you want me to do, but whatever it is I’m in. Whether it’s playing music or driving nails, I’m going to do it for your glory!”
